Tonight Univision is premiering it's brand new primetime telenovela called "Lo Imperdonable." Starring Ana Brenda Contreras, Iván Sánchez and a stellar cast, this new melodrama is based on the Caridad Bravo Adams classic, "La Mentira." Remember that novela with Kate del Castillo and Guy Ecker? That wasn't the first time it was made, but it's the one we remember the most. Televisa has since then made another version of the same story called "Cuando Me Enamoro" with Silvia Navarro and Juan Soler. It's been a mere five years since the last time we saw these characters, but there are still reasons to watch this new adaptation from the producers of "La Usurpadora," "Abrázame Muy Fuerte" and "La Madrastra. Yes, we mentioned only the hits because the same producers were behind the awful 2009 version of "Corazón Salvaje" and the equally gross "La Tempestad" last year. These are the reasons to watch the premiere tonight:
1. Ana Brenda Contreras: Of course you want to watch because Ana Brenda is the star of this telenovela. Coming off of "Corazón Indomable" she is quickly becoming one of our favorite actresses. Previously she's been in telenovelas like "La Que No Podía Amar" and "Teresa." She's been stellar in all of her roles, trying to diversify her career and not playing the same character all the time.
2. Iván Sánchez Shirtless: You all know that Iván looks very good without a shirt on. Let's try to spot how many times the guy takes off his shirt and delights our eyes at the nice sight.
3. Beautiful Scenery: Talking about the sights. The premiere episode has some amazing shots of in La Huasteca with bright blue waters. Trust us that these shots will leave you breathless and wanting to book your next vacation down there.
4. Revenge: With "Revenge" concluding on ABC, we were left a little lonely without a strong protagonist avenging a loved one. This story will have a man avenging the death of his brother. We love when our protagonist takes it into their own hands to make things right. It's a little different here though as his revenge goes against the wrong person. How it all plays out, is even more thrilling.
5. Sergio Sendel As A Young Man: Sergio Sendel has been playing variations of the same character for years. In this telenovela he plays a "young man." So young that they call him "Niño Emiliano" even though he is approaching 50. It makes for hilarious watching every time they call him "niño."
6. 3 Stories Wrapped Into 1: To give variety to "La Mentira," producers decided to add two more storylines to this version to have a richer story to tell. The other story is "Lo Imperdonable," which gives name to the production. You might remember this storyline if you watched "Siempre Te Amaré" with Laura Flores and Fernando Carrillo. The third story is one by Caridad Bravo Adams that's never been done as a telenovela. It's called "Tzintzuntzan," about a young indigenous woman that falls in love with an out of towner.
7. Grettel Valdez and Sebastían Zurita: Remember when these guys were a couple? Well, they're not anymore. Although both have moved on and are dating other people, it's still awkward running into your ex, isn't it? We would not like to work so close to an ex, but that's just us. It becomes fun to see how Valdez and Zurita interact in front of the camera. We wonder what happens when the cameras stop rolling?
8. Véronica Will Suffer: Our sweet protagonist, Véronica Prado Castelo will suffer and it will be horrible, but don't we love this? We love when our "protagonistas" suffer because we know that sooner or later they will come back and take revenge of her own. We like to ultimately see a strong woman standing up to herself.
9. Classic Storyline: This telenovela has been made numerous times. Why? Because it just works. It's a great story that we all love to re-watch. How many times has Superman, Spider-Man, Batman been remade? Same for telenovelas that have a solid storyline.
10. Stellar Cast: This telenovela includes many actores we love and adore like Claudia Ramirez, Juan Ferrara, Patsy, Gaby Goldsmith, Marcelo Buquet, Delia Casanova, and yes, even Alicia Machado.
