Terry Gilliam is heading back to the silver screen with the third installment of a dystopian satire trilogy that began with 1985's "Brazil," followed by "12 Monkeys" in 1995. "The Zero Theorem" brings the trilogy to a conclusion: written by Pat Rushin and starring Christoph Waltz, the film tells the story of Qohen Leth, a reclusive computer genius who is working on a formula to determine whether life holds meaning. The film also stars Lucas Hedges, Mélanie Thierry, and David Thewlis.

"The Zero Theorem" plot description reads: "A computer hacker's goal to discover the reason for human existence continually finds his work interrupted thanks to the Management; this time, they send a teenager and lusty love interest to distract him." Knowing Gilliam's work, it will likely be a zany, extravagant journey with rich philosophical implications. However, his last films "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus" and "The Brothers Grimm" left a lot to be desired - we are hoping this will be a return to form.

Gilliam spoke to Playlist about the process of making a film in a short space of time: "I love the idea of just suddenly working fast, working instinctively, not having time to double think anything. It’s as simple as when Christoph Waltz and I met [and he agreed to do the film]. That was it, it was green-lit at that point. And then pre-production was very quick, everything moved fast. That creates a lot of problems and it also solves a lot of problems, in that you don’t have a choice available."
