Volodymyr Zelensky rejected Donald Trump's claim that his approval rating in Ukraine is only 4%, calling it Russian disinformation and citing independent polling that places his support at 57%.

The controversy began after Trump repeated an unverified claim that Zelensky's approval rating had plummeted to just 4%, a figure that has been circulated in Russian media, Kyiv Post reported.

Zelensky, who has led Ukraine through its defense against Russia's invasion since February 2022, has relied on international support, particularly from the U.S. However, with increasing political tensions in Washington and shifting narratives, Ukraine's leadership is facing growing scrutiny, including alleged misinformation efforts aimed at undermining trust in Zelensky's government.

During a press conference this week, Zelensky forcefully refuted Trump's claim, stating that the alleged approval rating was part of a Russian disinformation campaign.

He referenced a recent survey by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology, which found that 57% of Ukrainians trust him.

Zelensky emphasized that trust ratings are secondary to Ukraine's main focus—securing military aid, particularly additional Patriot missile systems, and resisting Russian aggression.

He also criticized the U.S. for engaging in discussions with Russia, arguing that such talks embolden Vladimir Putin and risk legitimizing Russian narratives.
