Logan Paul is a couple of months away from making history although it is not expected to turn well in his favor. The 25-year-old will be up against one of the best boxers of this time in Floyd Mayweather Jr. and not all are giving him much of a chance. His brother, Jake Paul, can now be added to that list.
Ideally, most would expect a brother to be supportive of one another. But in this case, Jake is likely aware that Logan chose the wrong person to face in the boxing ring. The 23-year-old is aware of Mayweather’s accomplishments, including being a 50-0 fighter and a veteran in the sport. He adds a bit of more insult, saying Logan is a “fake fighter.”
"My brother's f***ed," Jake said to TMZ. "It's bad for the sport. I think it's just for clout."
By saying Logan’s exhibition clash with Mayweather on Feb. 20 is bad for the sport suggests that he is agreeing with boxing champion Canelo Saul Alvarez who said that YouTubers are disrespecting the sport.
"I don’t think we would agree that people that are basketball players, that are YouTubers get licenses. Ya know, I don’t criticize [the Paul brothers]. This is a very risky sport, and if you go up there, it’s very risky," Alvarez said in a separate report from TMZ.
Jake goes on to say that he is the real fighter in the family, boasting a 3-0 record. Logan has had no much luck getting that first win and that is unlikely to happen unless a lucky punch hurts Mayweather on Feb. 20.
"I wish him the best of luck. I just like -- don't get in there with a guy whos' never even been knocked out. He's been knocked down once and it was by accident," the younger Paul said.
Regardless of what Jake says, there is at least one guy who believes Logan has a chance. Victor Ortiz, someone who fought and lost to Mayweather in 2011, is helping the 25-year-old prepare against the “Flamboyant One.”
The 33-year-old, who got knocked out by Mayweather in 2011, feels that Logan has more power behind his punches, something Mayweather may want to be careful of.
“What I’m saying, in a sense, is that he will give Floyd trouble. I’m telling you, it’s going to be an interesting fight. I’ve talked to him about Floyd a few times... I give him the simple things: ‘Floyd is Floyd, but you’re unstoppable. You’re on another level.’ I strongly believe Floyd will have trouble. Logan can box, and he has power, reach speed, and he can move now,” Ortiz said to MMAFighting.com.
