A 10-year-old girl has been charged after reportedly shooting a woman who was in an argument with her mother in Florida on May 30.

The minor was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and was taken to the Juvenile Justice Centre without incident.

Per reports, the 10-year-old fired two rounds at the apartment complex of Lashun Rodgers located on Mercy Drive in Orlando on May 30.

This was after her mother, Lakisha Isaac, allegedly got into a heated argument with Rodgers. This resulted in both getting into a physical altercation.

It was added that during the fight, Isaac handed her bag containing the gun to her daughter. It was there when the 10-year-old fired shots at Rodgers. The female victim was brought to the hospital but eventually died.

Isaac was also arrested after the incident and is facing multiple charges. This includes manslaughter, aggravated assault with a firearm and child neglect.

“This is one of the most tragic cases I have seen in my 22-year career,” Monique Worrell, State Attorney for Orange and Osceola counties, stated. “Our office has started the process of reviewing this case and will consider all of the facts, including the age of the child, and all of the surrounding circumstances, when making a charging decision.”

According to a witness, the child also shouted: “She shouldn’t have hit my momma,” before pulling the trigger on the gun.

The witness added that the mother took the gun from her child and aimed it at him for trying to help Rodgers. He was left no choice but to run from the scene.

In a statement, the victim’s mother blasted the actions of Isaac and said that Rodgers did not deserve that kind of treatment stemming from a simple argument.

“What mother does that? It’s not the actions of a child, it’s the actions of a mother,” Arlene Mathis, the victim’s mother said.
