Puerto Rican rapper Yomo was arrested at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport for an undisclosed incident Monday, Puerto Rican news outlet Primera Hora reported. The plane bound for San Juan, which departed from Dallas, made an impromptu stop in Atlanta specifically for the arrest to occur. Gerardo Mechaly, the 33-year-old rapper's agent, said that it was true that Yomo had been arrested, but declined to give details.
Mechaly said he was going to travel to Atlanta to meet up with the rapper and would find legal help if necessary. Yomo has a history of run-ins with the police for drugs and gun violence. In 2010 he was hospitalized for what was described as anxiety regarding his troubles with the law. The rapper was also involved in a shoot out in March that happened at a bar in the San Juan neighborhood of Rio Piedras. Mechaly said Yomo's arrest has nothing to do with drugs, the Latin American Herald Tribune reported.
"I can guarantee that it had nothing to do with drugs, nothing to do with anything illegal," he said.
