Since the reveal of the Xbox One back in May the road has been rocky for the next-generation console. Gamers were concerned and impressed all at the same time. Many questions arose from the game sharing policies to the 24-hour check-ins. Once Microsoft replied to their customer it definitely left a bad taste in Gamers mouths. Immediately Microsoft flipped all their policies and got rid of their strict DRM policies but gamers are still not satisfied with Microsoft's next-gen console.

"The thing that's really gratifying is that people are excited about the types of features that are possible and it's sort of shame on us that we haven't done as good of a job as we can to make people feel like that's where we're headed."

Returning the Xbox One to its original DRM policies would bring back features like Family Sharing, which would have allowed users to share their digital games with other Xbox One owners via Xbox Live.

"If [Family Sharing] is something that people are really excited about and want, we're going to make sure that we find the right way to bring it back." To ultimately bring back a feature like Family Sharing it would require additional engineering to enable Family Sharing after always-online was dropped.

Whitten reveals that Microsoft has learned a lot of lessons since the Xbox One's reveal and says that if he could he would go back and engage with the community more.

"I think it's the number one thing I'd want to do if I went back, was have the conversation more open and more complete."
