Microsoft has revealed how the new Twitch app will function on the next-generation Xbox One and while doing so also revealed that live broadcasting would not be available before the end of the year. Members with Xbox Live Gold will be able to view all content on the Twitch app from the Xbox One's launch, as well as make use of the console's Snap functionality for convenient viewing. If you are unaware of what the Twitch app is well it's a fairly simple app that lets you watch some of the best gameplay from some of the best gamer's around the world.
Although Xbox One owners won't be able to stream their gameplay just yet, they will be able to watch PS4 owners do so on their consoles. Meanwhile, the app also works with Xbox One's snap feature, which allows users to play games or watch something else while viewing streamed gameplay. Xbox one owners will also be able to earn achievements by using the Twitch app and watch other people play games. These achievements for the app will be awarded based upon what players watch, when they watch and how much they watch.
Although all these features will be available at launch the ability to instantly broadcast gameplay footage from your Xbox One won't be. That is until the creators of Twitch and Microsoft are sure the experience will be a stable one. Makes sense, but still hinders those gamers who were expecting all features when the console launched. The instant upload feature is expected to be released in 2014, an exact date has not been revealed. The Xbox One will launch globally this Friday November 22. Will you be buying the next generation console?
