Microsoft is really trying to redeem themselves and the next-generation Xbox One console. First they remove those strict DRM policies, then they confirm self-publishing on the Xbox One and now the company has confirmed an adapter for the Xbox One headset.

The adapter will allow people to use current generation headsets along with third party headsets. However, the adapter will not come with the console and will be sold separately.
Xbox One lead planner Alberto Penello made the announcement on Twitter, along with the revelation that the adapter would be sold as a separate accessory. Penello tweeted, "@TheMVPlaya Yes. We will have an adapter that allows current gaming headsets to work."

"@TheMVPlaya Yes. We will have an adapter that allows current gaming headsets to work." Penello tweeted.
The reason current headsets will no longer work with the Xbox One is down to the redesigned controller, which means the expansion port has changed from the one currently used.
