Microsoft officially confirmed that the next-gen Xbox One console's graphics processing unti has been increased. The news comes from Major Nelson's podcast.
In the podcast Microsoft's corporate VP Marc Whitten tells Hryb the system's GPU running speed has been increased from 800 MHz to 853 MHz.
"This is the time where developers have the final dev kits in their hands, they're really working closely with us on how things have come together. There's some things that have really started to come together quite well," Whitten reportedly said.
Whitten also noted that his team was a bit conservative with its estimation for the Xbox One's final performance.
"It's all good news," said Whitten. "It's a superexciting time; this is when we've gone from all the specs and these arguments over the last several years to having the product and really starting to try the product internally," said Whitten. "We're running our internal beta and using it at home and starting to see the product really come together."
This latest news is aimed more so at developers than the average consumers. Having more power in the system means longer hardware life. Which means developers have a longer tail to sell games.
