One of the biggest complaints for next-gen owners is the lack of backwards compatibility for both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Unfortunately, it isn't possible to make the next-generation consoles compatible with the old hardware because the newer consoles utilize an entirely different architecture. That hasn't stopped people from trying however, and now it's taken a turn for the worse with people bricking gamer's consoles by falsely advertising a way to make a next-generation console backwards compatible, which again is not possible to do.

As a prank, fake instructions have been created and posted on 4chan detailing how to unlock an Xbox 360 backwards compatibility that will also work for an Xbox One too. The instructions present the feature as available, but disabled without explaining why, which should be your first clue that this is fake. The problem, however, is that once completed on an Xbox One the console becomes bricked, rendering it useless and unusable. Check out the instructions below that claim to help unlock the backwards compatibility feature for Xbox One and 360 consoles.

Microsoft has commented on the issue and advise anyone with an Xbox One or 360 console to not use these instructions as they will not help. If the issue continues, Microsoft will be forced to push out an update for the consoles making the instructions useless on both consoles. Although if you ask us, it shouldn't be this easy for any random person to brick Microsoft's latest console. This isn't surprising to see so many gamers using the instructions, especially when they don't understand why their 360 games won't load in their new Xbox One consoles.
