Sasha Banks and Naomi have been suspended indefinitely for reportedly walking out on Monday Night Raw earlier this week. Worse, the duo were stripped of the WWE women’s tag team belts for their actions.
This was announced no less by ringside announcer Michael Cole on the Friday Night Smackdown telecast. He added that Banks and Naomi won’t be actively wrestling until further notice.
With the WWE women’s tag team title vacant, there will be reportedly a future tournament to determine who will be crowned new champions.
This comes after both Banks and Naomi were set to take part in a six-pack challenge to determine the number one challenger for Bianca Blair for the WWE women’s title.
It appears that the entire row is tied to Banks reportedly getting frustrated with WWE CEO Vince McMahon and management’s vision for the show. This is believed to be the reason why she and Naomi walked off the show and leaving the arena, PW Insider reported.
Further, it was added that Banks had approached McMahon before the show to change the script. Unfortunately, the WWE top brass refused to do so and this allegedly led to the walkout.
Both Banks and Naomi allegedly went into the office of Head of Talent Relations John Laurenaitiis and surrendered the women’s tag team titles before leaving the arena, Wrestling Inc. reported.
As a result of their actions, the WWE had to change it up. Instead, a one-on-one match pitting Asuka and Becky Lynch took place with the former ending up as the victor.
As a result, Asuka will now get a title shot against Blair for the women’s title that is set to be held on the upcoming “Hell In A Cell” pay-per-view.
From here, it will be interesting what the future holds for Banks and Naomi. Both have yet to issue their official statements on the matter.
