The 2014 Nissan GT-R offers 545 hp and 463 lb.-ft. of torque to deliver staggering acceleration from 0-to-60 mph in just 2.7 seconds and a top speed of 196 mph. While the new GT-R may be the latest and greatest supercar to emerge from its Tochigi, Japan, assembly plant, the 2014 GT-R is by no means the fastest or the quickest in existence-- that honor belongs to the magicians of New Zealand's HTL Racing (Heat Treatments Limited Racing).
HTL Racing's pride and joy is a highly specialized Nissan BNR32 Skyline GT-R. An RB26 running an enormous single turbo, HKS cams, June headers, MoTec ecu, and a dry sump unit. On methanol fuel, the monstrous BNR32 is rated at more than 1,500 hp!
Last year, the HTL Racing GT-R was brought to Willowbank Raceway and set a rapid 7.531 second run at 185.26 mph. This year, driver Reece McGregor bested the record with an incredible 7.455 second run at 193.27 mph.
An awesome accomplishment, HTL Racing has their eyes on another challenge-- to crack into the 7.3 second range.
It will be exciting to see how much more power HTL Racing can still squeeze out of the R32 GT-R. In the meantime, check out the 1,500 hp beast destroy the quarter mile in the video below!
