The draw for the 2014 World Cup was announced on Friday morning from the northeastern Brazilian resort town of Costa do Saiupe in Bahia, where some 1,300 guests and a bank of 2,000 reporters were present as the international clubs were placed in one of eight World Cup groups. Among some of the most hotly anticipated opening matchups will likely be Spain vs. the Netherlands -- who will square off in a rematch of the 2010 World Cup final -- USA vs. Ghana, and Mexico vs. Cameroon. The four pots were announced earlier in the week, with the first including the eight seeded teams, the second holding African and South American teams like Ivory Coast, Ghana and Cameroon, the third pot holding members from CONCACAF and Asian nations like the United States, Mexico and Japan, and the fourth and final pot bearing Europe's finest clubs, including England, the Netherlands, Portugal and Bosnia. As the host, Brazil was automatically placed in Group A. They're also among this year's favorites to take the title, along with defending champion Spain, 2010 runner-up the Netherlands, and Germany -- the latter of which, it turns out, will share a group with the United States.
