Soccer fever has taken control out of everyone with the FIFA World Cup 2014 officially starting yesterday. Someone that has gotten infected by the fervor was Mickey Mouse, the lovable Disney character. In a new short titled "O Futebol Classico" ("The Soccer Classic") Mickey has traveled to Brazil to presence a match. All is well at the stadium, Mickey has all his gear to cheer on his team and finds a great spot to view the game. There is only one problem though, a giant pig sits right in front of him, blocking his sight and unable to see the match. He tries to tell her that her hat is obstructing his view, but when she takes the hat off a massive ball of hair pops open making it worse. The following moments has Mickey trying to score better seats, flying balloons over the arena and even sitting right on the field. Watch the hilarious short down below!
The ESPN México team has traveled to the South American country to provide inside details of the tournament. The only caveat with is that the network doesn't have the rights to air any of the matches and has to think of creative ways to promote their coverage. "Futbol Picante" show host José Ramón Fernández and his team created a music video to the tune of Pharrell Williams' "Happy." In the clip shot around Rio de Janeiro, Brazil we can see the veteran sports commentator dancing strangely. We can tell this was not his idea, but extra points for putting in the effort and playing along. Fernández used to be the main sports guy at TV Azteca and covered many World Cup's for the network, but left when management was changing. He has turned ESPN México into a referential network, bringing in his expertise and uncanny personality to sports lovers. Watch the "Happy" clip down below and tell us what you think!
The world's eyes were in São Paulo, Brazil today as the FIFA World Cup soccer tournament kicked off with a massive celebration. One of the show's highlights was the performance by J.Lo, Pitbull and Cláudia Leitte singing the official theme song of the games, "We Are One." The trio emerged from a huge LED ball that was the centerpiece of the Corinthians Stadium. The ball opened up transforming into a flower that served as the stage for the singers. Over 600 dancers, gymnasts, stilt walkers and capoeira fighters took part in the colorful presentation showcasing the best of Brazil in the 25-minute show.
