The police offered a reward on Wednesday, Feb. 9, for the capture of a woman who was involved in the killing of a local Texas resident and then skipped bail after she was arrested.
Twenty-year-old Karla Jackelin Morales, who is also known by the names Cherry, Karlita, Missy, and Foxy, has been on the run from the law since October 2021 when she cut off her ankle monitor two days after she posted a $60,000 bond, according to Law&Crime.
In 2018, Morales, then 17, reportedly lured 24-year-old Jose Villanueva to a field close to an elementary school in Spring, Texas with the promise of smoking weed as a belated birthday present. There, he found five MS-13 gang members who chopped him up with machetes, KHOU 11 reported.
The MS-13 gang members, led by 21-year-old Francisco “Psycho” Amadeo Flores-Salazar, were reportedly angry at Villanueva after he bad-mouthed their organization during a rap battle that he was participating in.
All five gang members who participated in the killing are currently in jail, with Flores-Salazar receiving a 45-year sentence after he pleaded guilty to the murder of Villanueva.
“There is a culture of violence within these gangs that leads to indiscriminate killing and puts all of us in danger,” District Attorney Kim Ogg said. “This was a premeditated and cold-blooded murder, not some crime of passion, and the killers deserve to spend decades in prison.”
Now, police officers are offering a $5,000 reward for any tipster who can help locate Morales, who they believe is still hiding out in the Houston area in an unknown location. Ogg said that the immigration status of any tipster will not be asked and that they can remain anonymous even after getting paid.
“She helped plan and plot this vicious execution, and somebody out there knows where she is hiding,” Ogg said. “You can do the right thing by helping deliver justice for Jose’s family, and you can collect a reward for your efforts.”
