Tennessee Woman Files Lawsuit Against Highway Patrol For ‘Groping’ Incident Unsplash

A woman, who was taking a shower inside her Andria Avenue residence in New Jersey, was reportedly groped by a naked man who made his way inside the house on April 14.

The woman reportedly called the police after the attack at exactly 10:18 pm on April 14. According to Somerset County Acting Prosecutor Annmarie Taggart, the man was said to have entered the shower and grabbed her from behind before she was able to fight him off.

Taggart provided the details saying that the police met with the woman at her home after receiving her report about an unknown male. Detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Sex Crimes Unit and detectives from the Hillsborough Police Department responded to investigate.

The victim was able to fight off the man before he fled the bathroom and exited the home, most possibly through a screen door. The victim, who was fortunately not injured, described her attacker as a Caucasian male, approximately 18 to 24 years old, with a thin build, short dark-colored hair, and no facial or body hair.

The victim provided a description to the New Jersey State Police Forensic Imaging Unit. Investigators have released the composite sketch to help in the search and in hopes of identifying the man. The public is also urged to immediately contact authorities if they believe they know the man or they happen to see the suspect. Police officials also reminded the public not to approach or try to apprehend the suspect themselves to avoid danger.

Taggart and Hillsborough Police Chief Mike McMahon request anyone with information relating to this sexual offense to contact the Somerset County Prosecutors Office Sex Crimes Unit at (908) 231-7100 or the Hillsborough Township Police Department at (908) 369-4323. People can also report via the STOPit app, a downloadable application that allows citizens to provide anonymous reports, including videos, audio and photos. It is free to download on the smartphone.

Information can also be provided through the Somerset County Crime Stoppers’ Tip Line at 1-888-577-TIPS (8477). All anonymous STOPit reports and Crime Stopper tips will be secured and confidential.
