An Ohio woman has been arrested after she allegedly left her two young children by themselves in a car as temperatures outside dropped, officials say.

22-year-old Shaneja Gamble was arrested after an off-duty officer working as security staff discovered her two young children in a car in the parking lot of Hollywood Casino Toledo while temperatures outside dropped down to 26F.

The children were found on Sunday. The car had been "unlocked" and "not running" when they were located, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by The Mirror.

"This officer, while working an off-duty project at the Hollywood Casino, was alerted by security that Gamble had left two minor children in an unlocked, not running and unattended vehicle on the third floor of the casino parking lot," said the affidavit. "At the time of the incident it was 26 degrees outside."

Gamble was arrested and charged with a misdemeanor charge of endangering children and creating a substantial risk to their health or safety. She was then booked into Lucas County Corrections Center.

Gamble appeared in court on Monday for her arraignment, pleaded not guilty, and was released from custody on her own recognizance.
