A Wichita Falls woman reportedly killed her roommate by sitting on her until she suffocated to death.

The accused, Gloria Ann Jordan, 41, has been arrested on charges of manslaughter on Tuesday, Feb. 1, after she allegedly killed her roommate, Gloria Farmer, by sitting on the victim's chest until she suffocated to death at their home in Las Cruces Lane on Nov. 21, 2021. The victim reportedly shared the flat with Jordan and another roommate, News 6 Now reported.

When law enforcement and EMS rushed to the crime scene on Las Cruces Lane in late November 2021, they initially mistakenly tagged Farmer’s death to be health-related in nature. However, when a family friend of the victim came forward a few days later to air her suspicions against Jordan, the authorities ordered a follow-up investigation into the incident.

The authorities subsequently questioned Farmer and Jordan's third roommate. She also claimed that Jordan might have caused the victim's death. When the investigators asked why she failed to report her eyewitness account to the authorities beforehand, she said that she was afraid of retaliation from Jordan, WABI reported.

The roommate revealed that, on the day of the killing, the suspect had put her hand on Farmer’s forehead while praying. She then pushed her backward in an office chair until the victim and the chair fell over. After which, she straddled Farmer’s body and sat on her chest. Even though Farmer and the unnamed roommate pleaded for her to remove herself on top of the victim, Jordan refused and allegedly stayed in her position until Farmer stopped breathing.

An autopsy report later revealed that Farmer’s death was caused by mechanical asphyxia and that the manner of death was a homicide.

Following the new breakthrough, officers questioned Jordan on Nov. 24 at the hospital, where she had been admitted for an unrelated medical condition. During the investigation, Jordan allegedly confessed to pushing Farmer over and straddling her body in a “prayer position” with her hand on Farmer’s forehead. However, when the officers questioned her further, she refused to answer.

Jordan is also facing additional charges related to a separate incident that occurred on Nov. 25. On Nov. 25, Jordan reportedly slammed a woman’s head into a wall multiple times because the unnamed victim had reportedly refused to drive Jordan to Dallas for a medical appointment unless she paid for gas.

Jordan was arrested by Burkburnett police on Tuesday, Feb. 1, shortly after the Wichita Falls Police Department and Crime Stoppers sought the public’s help in finding her.

Jordan currently remains in Wichita County Jail, and her bond was set at $150,000.
