A Texas woman reportedly went missing under mysterious circumstances while she was rushing to get to her job on Tuesday, July 5.
Chrissy Powell, 39, of New Haven, Connecticut and a graduate of the University of Texas at San Antonio, was working at a law firm when she went missing. She was last heard from when she called her workplace on the morning of July 5 to let them know she was running late.
Video footage obtained from a doorbell camera shows Powell last seen leaving her house located in the Apple Creek neighborhood in northwest San Antonio in a hurry at around 10:30 a.m that day. However, Powell strangely left her phone at home and nobody has heard from Powell since, the Daily Beast reported.
Following her disappearance, the San Antonio Police Department's missing person unit launched an investigation into the incident, and a “be on the lookout” alert has been issued for Powell’s car, a black Nissan Rogue.
“The unknown is the scariest part,” Powell's family friend Lauren Leal said. “It is fear in my mind right now. It is hard to wrap our minds around where she might be, what could have happened.”
Leal said they have known each other all their lives and that Powell is like a sister to her. Leal added that it’s not in her friend’s character to “just vanish” and reportedly called Powell’s disappearance “bizarre,” KENS 5 reported.
"My fear is not ever knowing anything," Leal said. "I mean I think that would be the worst is spending the rest of my life looking for her. I will never give up."
Powell is reported to have a medical condition that requires medication. However, according to investigating officers, Powell didn’t take the medication when she left the house in a hurry and may need a doctor’s care.
Meanwhile, Powell's friends and family members checked the jail and hospitals hoping to find her. They have begun sharing a flier with Powell’s info on social media platforms, along with photos of her strung across the top, and are asking the general public's help in locating her.
"We just want you home," Leal said.
