A woman who alleged that she was gang-raped by her boyfriend and his friends had made the false claim to seek revenge against him, who is now engaged to another girl.

The woman, a resident of Fisal Banda, in Hyderabad, India, claimed that she was gang-raped on Tuesday, Aug.17, by her alleged boyfriend and two of his friends.

On Tuesday, the woman, a lab technician, returned home from work an hour late. When her parents asked the reason for her late arrival, she said she boarded an autorickshaw to return home, however, during the ride, she fell unconscious only to wake up later and realize that she was taken to an isolated area and gang-raped by the auto driver and two men who were sitting on either side of her.

Based on a complaint filed by the woman’s parents the police began an investigation. However, they failed to gather any evidence to prove the woman’s claims.

The investigators inspected footage from surveillance cameras along the route and learned that no one kidnapped the woman and there was no attempt to kill her or outrage her modesty.

The woman’s medical test results also indicated that she was not subjected to rape.

The investigators grew suspicious of the woman’s claims and interrogated her during which she reportedly confessed that it was a cooked-up story.

She told the investigators that she wanted to take revenge on her boyfriend who recently got engaged to another woman.

It is unclear if the police have registered a case against the woman.

In a similar incident, an undocumented Mexican national made a false report and told the authorities that a masked man had abducted her and raped her before abandoning her naked.

54-year-old Alma Delia Duran, of Summerfield, tricked the police so she could lawfully remain in the United States.

Duran claimed the assailant had knocked her unconscious before dragging her into a vehicle. He then allegedly forced her to drink a liquid that tasted like beer and ultimately sexually assaulted her before throwing her naked on the side of the road, she said.

However, authorities became suspicious after her phone records lodged more than 100 phone calls with a man just days before the alleged attack.

During an interrogation, Duran reportedly confessed that she and her alleged assailant were having an affair for several years.

Duran reportedly pressured the man to stage a violent crime such as a kidnapping so she could stay in the country and obtain U.S. citizenship.

She was booked into the Marion County Jail and released a day later after posting a $1,000 bond.
