A woman was sentenced to 30 years in prison for shooting her boyfriend to death in Hendersonville, North Carolina.
The accused, identified as 33-year-old Natalie Louise Miller, was sentenced to 30 years in prison on Monday, Nov. 14 after she reportedly pleaded guilty to charges of second-degree murder and concealment of death in connection to the death of her boyfriend, Samuel Kalain Frazier, WYFF News 4 reported.
Hendersonville police officers reportedly got a call from a friend of Miller on Dec. 8, 2019, informing them that Miller had contacted him and told him that she had shot and killed her boyfriend, Samuel Kalain Frazier.
Following this, the officers responded to the home Miller shared with Frazier. When they arrived, they found Miller outside the home. When officers asked her what was going on and who was in the house, Miller told the officers that “the body” was in the house and “the gun was on the table.”
When officers went inside the house, they found Frazier dead in the home with two gunshot wounds from a .45-caliber firearm that was found on the table, WLOS reported.
Miller initially waived her right to an attorney and told the authorities that she shot Frazier the day before.
According to Murray, after shooting Frazier, she removed money from his wallet and went out to buy dinner and some liquor. She then returned to the house and waited for the decedent to wake up. She told the detectives that she believed the decedent was faking his death and that he would get up at some point during the night.
Miller told investigators that Frazier had controlled her for years by giving her different kinds of things at night when she sleeps. Miller told authorities that she believed Frazier injected her with needles. However, she conceded that she had never witnessed signs of needle marks on her body.
The investigation determined Miller had a history of mental illness. The detectives also reportedly found an unspent hollow point bullet in the home with the notation “Love N.M.” written down the side of the bullet.
Murray had no prior criminal convictions before the murder.
Miller was deemed competent to stand trial and assist in her defense. She will serve a minimum of 30 years before she is eligible for release.
