A woman has been accused of stabbing a postal worker several times inside a New York City deli during an argument over whose turn it was to order.

The incident unfolded January 2 at a deli on Lenox Avenue in Harlem when USPS mail carrier Ray Hodges III, 36, entered to grab a sandwich while on duty, ABC 7 New York reported.

Witnesses and police reports indicate a dispute erupted between Hodges and 24-year-old Jaia Cruz over who was next in line.

Tensions quickly escalated, resulting in Cruz allegedly pulling out a knife and stabbing Hodges multiple times.

Hodges, who sustained multiple stab wounds to his torso, arms, back, and neck, was rushed to Harlem Hospital but succumbed to his injuries.

Cruz was arrested at the scene and has been charged with murder.

The NYPD recovered a knife and is investigating the exact circumstances leading to the altercation.
