Netflix’s “The Witcher” season 2 release date is not yet revealed. But it is expected that the new season will premiere sometime in 2021. However, delayed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic is likely to affect the schedule.
Apart from "The Witcher" season 2 release date, there have been many speculations about the plot and the characters as well. Recently, the first look photos from the sets of the second season were released, which showed Henry Cavill's new Geralt of Rivia costume.
"The Witcher" season 2 is back to filming for some time after an unexpected halt owing to the coronavirus pandemic. The first set of photos from the production location revealed the looks of the characters.
In the famous fantasy show based on the novels by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, Cavill plays the role of a mutant monster hunter, Geralt. Apart from Geralt, the other two popular characters on the show are Princess Ciri of Cintra, played by Freya Allen and the powerful sorceress Yennefer of Vengerberg, a character played by Anya Chalotra.
Cavill’s new look and costume were revealed on Twitter as well as Instagram. While Cavill shared the photos from his account on Instagram, it was The Witcher official account on Twitter that revealed the first look.
The photos reveal Geralt’s new armor.
Meanwhile, the official synopsis of "The Witcher" season 2 confirmed that Geralt and Ciri will head to the legendary witcher training castle, Kaer Morhen, after finally meeting in the season finale. However, it does not reveal any details about Yennefer and her fate in the season.
While season 1 was criticized by some viewers for its confusion timelines, it is expected that Season 2 will be more linear and exciting.
“Convinced Yennefer’s life was lost at the Battle of Sodden, Geralt of Rivia brings Princess Cirilla to the safest place he knows, his childhood home of Kaer Morhen. While the Continent’s kings, elves, humans and demons strive for supremacy outside its walls, he must protect the girl from something far more dangerous: the mysterious power she possesses inside,” the synopsis states.
