An investigation is underway after four people were shot dead and five others injured in a mass shooting at a Wisconsin school.
The shooting – believed to be perpetrated by a student – took place at Abundant Life Christian School Monday in Madison, Wisconsin, according to police, ABC News reported.
The juvenile lone shooter is "down," police said without elaborating on a manner of death, according to the outlet. Officers did not fire their weapons.
"We're still going through, collecting evidence, collecting information, making sure that our community is safe from what is a sad day for our community and for our country," Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes told reporters at a press briefing following the shooting.
Seven people were transported to the hospital for treatment.
The ages of the victims and suspect remain unclear, but the school serves students in grades K-12.
"Prayers Requested! Today, we had an active shooter incident at ALCS," the school confirmed on Facebook. "We are in the midst of following up. We will share information as we are able.
Please pray for our Challenger Family."
A motive remains under investigation.
