It was a great day for William Levy. On Monday, October 6, 2014, the Cuban actor was honored with the keys to the City of Miami. “When I was 14 years old I was in Cuba dreaming of coming to this country. It was a dream I had since I was a child. A dream that seemed almost impossible,” Levy said when Mayor Tomás Regalado handed him the keys. “God gave me the opportunity to be here doing what I love and being where I am today, in a city that seemed so far away, that was almost like a dream to me. Today our Mayor has given me this recognition. To me, this is unbelievable!”
Levy, who has made a name for himself thanks to telenovelas such as “La Tempestad,” “Triunfo del Amor,” “Sortilegio” and “Cuidado con el Angel,” is now making his way through Hollywood, proving once more that Latinos can also be successful in that business. He started dipping his toes in the American market with his appearance on “Dancing With The Stars” and “Single Ladies.” He had an appearance in Tyler Perry’s “The Single Moms Club” and now stars in the movie “Addicted.” We will see him next in “Turn Life” alongside Vince Vaughn, “Change of Hearts” with Jim Belucci and produced by Emilio Estefan, and “The Veil.”
When he received the keys to the City of Miami, he dedicated that recognition to his mother, his grandmother, God and his fans. “For years, this Cuban has been succeeding in Mexico, Latin America and United States, and is now making his crossover to the celluloid world,” Mayor Regalado pointed out. Congrats to William Levy, a Latino who is starting to take Hollywood by storm!
