After more than a decade, William Levy is making waves again with his imminent return to Mexico. The Cuban actor and producer hadn't worked in the country that gave him the most significant break of his career since 2013, when he started in Televisa's telenovela 'La Tempestad.'

While his plans are totally different this time, what hasn't changed is that Levy's big Mexican comeback is surrounded by gossip about his personal life and an even bigger expectation of a real-life romance with his next co-star. William Levy is starring with Aracely Arámbula in the 2024 edition of the play "Perfume de Gardenia," which led to some of her most famous relationships.

William Levy's Mexican comeback

Levy will join a star-studded cast in "Perfume de Gardenia," which includes notable names like Arámbula, David Zepeda, Pablo Montero, and Latin Lover. Francisco Oyanguren Aguilar directed the play, which will premiere at Teatro San Rafael on August 10, 2024. According to the producers, the Cuban star will share the leading role with Zepeda, on alternating days.

The story revolves around Gardenia Peralta (Arámbula,) a cigarette girl dreaming of becoming a singer in her late father's cabaret, and Ricardo Cordero, Levy/Zepeda's character, who becomes romantically entangled with her.

"To the best of my knowledge, most of my scenes are with William Levy," said Arámbula during a press meeting in Mexico. "I know him well; we have already done a very successful telenovela together. He is a great friend, and I get along very well. We have a wonderful friendship. I was in Miami working on a project recently, and we went out to eat, have dinner, and talk. One day, he invited me to his house for dinner. The truth is, we have a very nice relationship."

The play not only marks Levy's return to the Mexican entertainment world, where he started in telenovelas like "Sortilegio" and "Cuidado con el ángel," but his return to the stage. His last play, "Un amante a la media," was also in México.

William Levy and Elizabeth Gutiérrez

Levy's personal life has also been under the spotlight. His tumultuous breakup with Elizabeth Gutiérrez made headlines, but recent rumors suggest a possible reconciliation. The couple, who share two teenage children, reportedly vacationed together in Greece. This sighting has fueled speculation that the two might give their relationship another chance.

However, some fans are expecting his love life to take another turn, as he shares the stage with Aracely Arámbula. La Chule, as she is also known in Mexico, had a very public relationship with two of her costars in her previous incarnations of Gardenia Peralta: Sebastián Rulli and Arturo Carmona. Will William Levy be the third?

While his love life is up in the air, Levy's career is skyrocketing. He just finished filming a movie in Spain and has announced that he has two more projects ready to star and executive produce. His last TV projects were "Vuelve a mí" on Telemundo and "Montecristo" on Vix, the TelevisaUnivision streaming platform.
