Jennifer Aniston is Jake Gyllenhaal’s “the one who got away.” He essentially said so himself when he revealed how long he has been crushing on the “Friends” actress. The question is, with Aniston now single following her split with Justin Theroux, will the two ever date? Never say never.
Aniston, 50, has recently been rumored to be spending time with a mystery man while in West Hollywood. The two enjoyed dinner with friends and the man even kissed her on the cheek before going their separate ways.
Following this report, however, no man has been linked to the actress. It could be true though that she’s not looking for love these days. In her interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Aniston said that dating is not among her priorities right now and that romance will just present itself one day, so there’s no need to seek it out.
What if it would be Gyllenhaal though? Won't it be nice for Aniston to stop being linked to Brad Pitt time and again? What if this is universe working its magic?
Gyllenhaal, who must currently be in a celebratory mood considering the success of “Spider-Man: Far From Home,” has always been one of Hollywood’s greatest sweethearts. His acting portfolio is certainly interesting, as his acting roles range from one spectrum to another. He has roles in big-budget films as well as small, independent ones, and he has done comedies, thrillers, and now superhero-themed movies.
While his portfolio is varied and dynamic, his crush on Jennifer Aniston can be described as the opposite -- it has been so consistent for a while it is actually really cute! Could he be feeling the same until now?
Back in 2016, Gyllenhaal revealed to People Magazine how strongly he felt for Aniston.
“I will say, I had a crush on her for years. And working with her was not easy…I was – um, yeah. That’s all I’m going to say. It was lovely. It wasn’t hard, that’s what I would say,” he shared.
The two worked together way back in 2002, in “The Good Girl” but the way he described Aniston did not feel like he has already let go of these feelings. Faltering on an interview while describing a girl he worked with 14 years ago? Seems like he's still crushing on Jen.
His crush could not be disregarded as puppy love either. In the interview, he described that his crush on Aniston did not stem from just watching her on “Friends.” Instead, he really liked his “personality from afar,” from all the different works she had been part of.
For her part, Aniston seems unfazed by the actor’s admission. Upon knowing he revealed her to be his all-time crush, the actress said, "Well, I just don’t know why we’re finding this out now!” It could be just a joke but at least she was not put off.
She was also asked whether something could have developed if she had known earlier, to which Aniston joked Gyllenhaal must love older women. She confirmed that she did not know the actor had a crush on her while working on “The Good Girl” set.
Who knows? They could be meant to be!
