A 24-year-old woman from Bengaluru, India, is seeking a divorce from her husband, who began working as an escort after he lost his job due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 27-year-old former call center employee lost his job due to the pandemic and to earn money, signed up to be a male escort.
The duo met each other at the office canteen of their office in Bengaluru in mid-2017 and soon started dating.
They got married in 2019 and then began living in a rented house in the city. But after the man lost his job due to the coronavirus lockdown, he started looking for other work opportunities.
Since Feb 2020, the wife began to notice that her husband was behaving unusually as he became extremely engaged with his laptop and cell phone.
The woman became suspicious after her husband started making untimely and unexplained visits to places about which he wouldn't give convincing answers.
In order to find the truth behind the suspicious behavior, the woman took the help of her techie brother to crack into her husband’s laptop.
The woman found a folder that contained some shocking pictures of her husband and a lot of other women. The hidden folder contained numerous nude photos of the man and selfies of semi-naked women.
The wife confronted her husband, during which he initially denied that he was the person in the photographs. However, the man later confessed that he had started working as a male escort and that he charged Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,000 per hour for having sex with these women. The man said the pictures were of his clients.
The wife then approached the Vanitha Sahayavani (women’s helpline) of Bengaluru police where the couple was made to appear before a consultation expert.
During the counseling, the man admitted to his new profession and that he enjoyed what he did. However, the man also said that he loves his wife and that he is ready to leave the job because he did not want to be separated from her.
The woman refused to budge despite being counseled, following which the couple filed a mutually consented divorce petition in the court.
