Drake has appeared to confirm his arrest in Sweden despite the denial of his team.
The famous rapper uploaded a photo to Instagram, on Sunday, of a handout detailing his rights in the European country as a detainee. "Information for Those Suspected of a Crime and Subsequently Detained,” the sheet read at the top underneath the word "Polisen," which means "police" in Swedish. The printout also listed the detainee’s rights as well as those of a person who is "not a Swedish citizen," like Drake, who resides in Canada. It also showed information about what happens once a person is detained, including being interrogated for "a maximum of six hours," or taken into custody.
The 35-year-old Grammy winner also included a some photos and a video of his friend Chubbs dancing at a club and a photo of another friend kayaking. “I wanna see Ibiza Chubbs fam…,” he captioned the post.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Drake's team initially denied that the rapper had a run-in with Swedish police. They insisted that Drake was not arrested and that he was in his hotel in Stockholm. However, they did not deny that he was detained. Rumors emerged that Drake had been arrested on marijuana-related charges while partying in a Swedish club after arriving in the country at Sweden’s Arlanda airport on July13, on his private jet dubbed Air Drake. The speculation resulted in the hashtag #FreeDrake trending on Twitter.
It is still unclear whether the rapper is in Sweden to record music or for personal reasons. Meanwhile, the "Hotline Bling" singer also announced that his October World Weekend will take over his hometown of Toronto from July 28 to Aug. 1 featuring Young Money, Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj, as well as Lil Baby and Chris Brown.
October World Weekend is said to be part of the Road to OVO Fest Tour which Drake previously explained in an Instagram post, “I am currently working on bringing OVO FEST around the world in 2023 for the 10th Anniversary, but of course we wanted to turn the city up for the summer!!! More event announcements to come.”
In June, Drake released his house-inspired seventh studio album "Honestly, Nevermind," which debuted at the top of the Billboard 200.
