Meghan Markle is once again being criticized after it was announced that she will serve as a guest editor for Vogue. But when Kate Middleton edited the Huffington Post, the Duchess of Cambridge didn’t receive the same flak.

The Sun journalist Dan Wooton said on ITV’s “Lorraine” that Queen Elizabeth might also think that Meghan’s decision to team up with Vogue is idiotic. The journalist claimed that the British publication is an elite magazine and is, therefore, a bad choice for Prince Harry’s wife.

“I feel I need to bring a bit of reality to the situation,” Wooton said. “Vogue is probably the most elite expensive snobby fashion-dominated, skinny-dominated magazine in the entire world. This is not some great mainstream force for good, this is a magazine for the elite,” he added.

Wooton went on to say that the fact that Meghan has been working with Vogue for the past 7 months is actually a problem. “It’s quite a weird this [sic], to go and very publicly guest edit a magazine putting yourself out there is such a public non-royal way,” he said.

The journalist also noted the fact that the majority of the people who will be featured in the special Vogue edition are anti-Donald Trump. Meghan has also expressed her dislike for the President of the United States years ago.

Royal expert Ingrid Seward also said that Meghan’s new role makes it seem as though she has done a huge favor for the House of Conde Nast and not the House of Windsor. But despite their criticisms, some people have shown their support for the Duchess of Sussex.

“I wish the media would stop giving Meghan Markle such a tough time,” one fan tweeted. “If she wants to guest edit Vogue and raise awareness, she can! Yes, she’s a royal, she’s not the traditional royal in a box. She has a voice, interests, and she can’t ignore if she enjoys something,” the fan added.

Three years ago, the Duchess of Cambridge also edited the Huffington Post. The mom of three’s editing stint was centered on children’s mental health.
