Prince Andrew is believed to be Queen Elizabeth II’s favorite son. But even if their relationship is quite special, Her Majesty used to complain about her third child due to a serious reason.
In the book “Sarah: HRH The Duchess Of York,” royal author Ingrid Seward said that the monarch used to complain about not having any control over her son. And as such, she would oftentimes delegate his tasks to Prince Charles.
Prince Charles would also usually complain about not having any control of his brother. The future king and his younger sibling reportedly have a complicated relationship. They are also quite different.
But despite the Queen’s complaints, she remained close to her third child. In the book “Andrew: The Playboy Prince,” royal biographer Andrew Morton said that Her Majesty would oftentimes surprise palace visitors because she was very hands-on with the Duke of York.

“Andrew’s mother hand more time for her young son,” Morton said. “Visitors, bracing themselves for an interview with the monarch, would often be astonished to find her on the floor playing games with the toddler,” he added.
But when Prince Charles and Princess Anne were much younger, the Queen didn’t have much time for them. She was very busy with her job as the head of the monarchy, and she also traveled a lot across the world.
The Queen and Prince Philip decided to put off having more children until 10 years later when Prince Charles and Princess Anne were old enough to also take care of their siblings.
Shortly after Prince Andrew’s birth, the Queen gave birth to her youngest son, Prince Edward. Years ago, Sophie, Countess of Wessex’s husband, revealed that he and his family spend most of their weekends with the Queen.
Prince Edward also shares a special bond with his mom and dad, and he is also believed to be the royal couples’ favorite son. The Queen is also close to Sophie and even closer to her than Kate Middleton, Camilla Parker Bowles and Meghan Markle.
The future Duchess of Edinburgh is Her Majesty’s closest confidante. “She is trusted and relied on by the Queen in a way I couldn’t say applied to the Duchess of Cambridge or the Duchess of Cornwall,” a royal source told Daily Mail.
