Princess Diana may think that Kate Middleton is not good enough for her eldest son, Prince William, if she were still alive. While speaking with Daily Mail, royal commentator Dickie Arbiter said that Princess Diana would have been jealous of the Duchess of Cambridge. But even if this were the case, the late royal would still be a good mother-in-law to her son’s wife.

“Kate would have found Diana very helpful and a good mother-in-law,” he said. “Yes, with every mother there’s a bit of jealousy when their son finds another woman and no mother can put her hand on her heart and say they’re not concerned. To every mother, no woman is good enough for her son,” he added.

However, Arbiter also said that he thinks Princess Diana and Kate would get along well with each other. The Princess of Wales would’ve also helped the mom of three navigate through her life as a royal when she wed the Duke of Cambridge on April 29, 2011.

But since Princess Diana is no longer around, Prince William took on the responsibility of guiding his wife when it comes to the ins and outs of the royal family. The future king has also been helping the future queen consort cope with media speculation and public scrutiny.

“I think Kate and Diana would have got on very well. Kate would have found a great soulmate in Diana. William has been doing all the guiding — they were lucky because they had a relationship for eight years before they married, but Diana would have steered Kate and advised her about whatever she wanted to know,” he said.

Meanwhile, Princess Diana may have a tricky relationship with Prince Harry’s wife, Meghan Markle. Royal expert Ingrid Seward told Daily Mail that Prince Charles’ ex-wife was actually quite snobbish.

“She was very proud of her Spencer heritage, and although she was great with the ordinary man, she might not have wanted someone for her son who had been married before and was from such a different background,” she said. It is also said that Princess Diana wouldn’t like the control that Meghan has on Prince Harry.
