Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s son baby Archie is not a royal yet, even though his father is sixth in line to the throne. The Queen decides on the royal titles, and she has the right to make changes in the future, but for now the baby will be regarded as a commoner.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have to deal with the constant media scrutiny and the scrutiny of the public because they are a part of the royal family. The two of them don’t want the same thing for their children, and that is why they have decided not to give their son Archie a royal title, Express reported.
What does it mean for Archie if he doesn’t have a royal title? According to Dr Jonathan Spanger of Manchester Metropolitan University, people who don’t have the royal title are allowed to do things like start a business and other things that the members of the royal family aren’t allowed to do.
Markle had to quite acting in order to get married to Prince Harry. With the couple’s decision, baby Archie may get to live a more normal life without the restrictions that come with a royal title.
It was King George V who limited the number of people in his family who could carry on the royal titles. However, the Queen later made a change to allow all her grandchildren to be called as princes and princesses.
At the moment, only Prince William’s son has the title of His Royal Highness (HRH). However, things may change if Prince Charles becomes the king. As a rule, all of a reigning sovereign’s grandchildren will automatically get a royal title.
For the time being, baby Archie can attempt to live a normal life. Prince Harry will be taking his son on a tour of Africa. In a recent Instagram post, he wrote that he can’t wait to introduce his son and wife to the people on his trip.
