Queen Elizabeth II is the oldest member of the royal family, and she’s also the longest-reigning monarch. But not once has she asked members of her staff to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) like what Meghan Markle did.
The Duchess of Sussex, who just became an official member of the royal family, is reportedly the most involved royal when it comes to PR decisions. In fact, a royal expert said that Meghan is also the one who decides whether the photos uploaded on her and Prince Harry’s Instagram account should be colored or in black and white.
While speaking with iHeartRadio, Rob Shuter said that Meghan asked her staff to sign NDAs because she’s so concerned about leaks to the press. Even the newest addition to her royal staff, her son’s nanny, has been asked to sign the agreement.
“There is no detail of her carefully crafted public image that is too small, including deciding whether the pictures she posts on her Instagram are in color or black and white,” Shuter said. “That’s how involved she is. You cannot forget that Meghan is not new to this, she has been working in Hollywood for years and she understands the power of the press and photography particularly,” he added.
Shuter added that while the other members of the royal family are happy to let their PR team make all the decisions, the same cannot be said about Meghan. The “Suits” alum is very much involved.
“In fact, I would argue, a source tells me, that she’s more involved in these decisions than anybody else in the family, including the Queen. You’re boss Meghan,” he said.
Meanwhile, Shuter is not the first person to reveal that the Duchess of Sussex had her son’s nanny sign an NDA. Royal expert Katie Nicholl previously told Entertainment Tonight that the agreement that Meghan had the nanny sign was quite extensive.
Meghan gave birth to her son on May 6. Royal reporter Omid Scobie told Harper’s Bazaar that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex decided to hire a nanny for their son because they will both have very busy schedules in the coming months.
