Gina Rodriguez recently revealed the real reason why she had to halt the production for the final season of “Jane The Virgin.” The actress said that her anxiety played such a huge role in her decision.

While talking to Kate Snow at the Kennedy Forum in Chicago, Rodriguez said that there were a lot of times when her anxiety became so overwhelming that she had to stop production to recover. She also said that there were times when she could no longer push through.

“It came to a point, this last season was the first season where I had to stop production,” she said. “I had a really tumultuous season and I was unafraid for the first time to be like, ‘I can’t,’” she added.

During a previous interview with Cosmopolitan, Rodriguez revealed her battle with depression and anxiety. She said that her first relationship with her mental health came to a head two years after starting “Jane The Virgin.”

While eating lunch at a sushi restaurant, Rodriguez suffered from her first panic attack. She also experienced extreme moments of self-consciousness while doing pictorials and press conferences.

“There are a lot of things in the manual of living out your dreams that you don’t know about,” she said. “Like you don’t have any more friends. You never go out to eat. You never see your family, your boyfriend, girlfriend, or whatever you have.”

At present, the actress continues to work on managing her well-being and cultural consciousness while under the spotlight. Rodriguez said that she’s no longer afraid to speak out about mental health, especially for the young girls who look up to her.

“Mental health has to be a part of the conversations I have with these young girls,” she said. “I can’t just tell them to go out and make their dreams come true and then to ignore everything else.”

“Jane The Virgin” is currently airing its fifth and final season on The CW. Before the series wrapped up, it was announced that a spinoff will be released. However, it was reported last month that the project will no longer push through.
