Demi Lovato just got another tattoo. The singer shared a photo of her new ink on her Instagram account last week.
In the snap, Lovato revealed that she got the word “me” tattooed on the front side of her ring finger. She wrote a short but cryptic caption on her post and revealed the meaning of her new tattoo.
“Me first,” she wrote. Lovato also included a black heart emoji in her caption before thanking her tattoo artist for the reminder. “Can’t love anyone else if you don’t love yourself first,” she wrote.
The singer has been unapologetically embracing herself as of late. After her hospitalization for a near-fatal overdose, Lovato started going back to the gym. She has also been posting full body photos of herself to show how confident she has become in her own skin.
Last week, the “Stone Cold” singer revealed that she’s back in the studio to record for her upcoming album. She said that her new songs will be completely open and honest.
“You know what’s great about making an album?” Lovato wrote on social media. “You get to say anything you want, be as open and honest as possible and tell your side of the story regardless of who might not like it…” But other details about her album like her tracklist and the album’s release date have not yet been announced.
Last year, Lovato also spoke honestly about one of her songs. The singer released the track “Sober,” which detailed how she broke her six-year sobriety. “Sober” was released just weeks before Lovato was rushed to the hospital following the shocking incident at her home in Hollywood Hills.
Lovato has battled addiction, mental illness and disordered eating for years. In 2011, she entered rehab and was treated for bipolar disorder, bulimia, self-harm and addiction. After leaving rehab, Lovato relapsed. She then entered a sober living facility for a year.
But even before the release of “Sober,” fans already predicted that Lovato had fallen off the wagon of her sobriety. Hayley Kiyoko uploaded a photo of herself with Lovato, and the latter is holding a glass with a beer in it.
