Marvel fans have always wanted Chris Evans and Elizabeth Olsen to be together for real. Rumors of them secretly dating started to swirl around as early as 2016, when fans noticed how comfortable they were with each other at press and red carpet events.

Evans and Olsen appeared together in several Marvel films, including “Avengers: Age Of Ultron” and “Captain America: Civil War.” Since they were both single when they started working together, the internet couldn’t help but talk about the possible coupling of the two talented and beautiful celebrities.

In 2016, a photographer snagged a photo of the entire cast of “Captain America: Civil War” showing Evans staring at Olsen’s cleavage. Around that time, the promotion for the latest “Avengers” installment was in full swing, so the controversial photo was quick to make the rounds online. Evans’ infamous downward glance at Olsen’s chest instantly became the talk of the town, especially since his face looked both surprised and pleased.

Shortly after “Captain America: Civil War” hit theaters, Evans and Olsen guested on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” to promote the film. And being the sparkly host that she’s always been, Ellen DeGeneres went ahead to drill the two stars directly. “Hey, you two are supposed to be dating, are you?” she said.

Instead of taking the opportunity to deny the ongoing rumors, Evans and Olsen gave DeGeneres the most sarcastic answers ever. After Elizabeth Olsen joked that she and Evans had been dating secretly for the last three years, Evans said in jest that they had decided to keep their engagement secret. Their response was apparently a denial of the rumors, but DeGeneres’ support for the ship made the romance rumors catch flame once again.

Come 2017, Olsen confirmed her relationship with Robbie Arnett of pop band Milo Greene. Earlier this week, several fans spotted the actress grocery shopping with her beau while sporting a giant emerald ring, sparking speculations that they’re already engaged. If the engagement rumors are true, then it looks like fans who still hope that she and Evans wind up under the covers together have already reached a dead end.
