Camilla Parker Bowles’ family previously revealed that they’re worried about the Duchess of Cornwall’s fate once Prince Charles becomes king. They also said that they prefer if Camilla would become princess consort instead of queen.
In the book “The Duchess,” royal author Penny Junor said that at least one member of Camilla’s family doesn’t want her to receive the title of queen because they’re worried about the backlash that she could receive. As such, they think that being called princess consort will be much better.
“I do so want her to be all right and I do worry that she won’t be,” the family member said. “How is she going to be judged?” the family member added.
Camilla’s concerned relative also said that the public might go wild when Prince Charles’ wife receives the important title because it’s associated with two members of the royal family: Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Diana. “The Queen who’s been in our lives forever, the worship of Diana, and suddenly Queen Camilla,” the family member said.
But despite the family member’s concerns, MP Frank Field told Junor that the heir to the throne would most likely push for his wife to be called queen once he is crowned king. Field also said that it’s just right for Prince Charles to fight for his wife’s future title.
Junor said that Camilla would most likely accept the title if it’s bestowed on her, but it’s not something that she wants. After all, she’s married to Prince Charles because she loves him dearly and not because of the position that he holds in the royal family.
Meanwhile, Camilla has already experienced what it’s like to be judged and criticized by the supporters of the royal family. When she and Prince Charles had an affair decades ago, the royal couple faced backlash from the royal fans.
The Duke and Duchess of Cornwall were blamed for the fallout of Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s marriage. And they were also blamed for the sudden death of the Princess of Wales. At present, the public’s perception of Camilla has improved, but a lot of people are still not ready for her to become their queen.
