Ariana Grande previously made headlines for licking donuts and for saying that she hates America and Americans. Shortly after the incident, the singer apologized for what she did via a lengthy post on social media.
It has been four years since the incident, but it seems that Grande’s critics have not yet forgotten what she did. To make things worse, everyone remembers the report claiming that the donuts that Grande licked were sold to customers who were unaware of the contamination.
Some fans are wondering why Grande was never charged for what she did when a woman who licked a tub of ice cream at Walmart could face 20 years in prison. The unnamed suspect was also given a fine of up to $10,000.
The woman posted a video of herself licking the tub of ice cream via her social media account and said that she was actually suffering from flu at that time. She also encouraged other people to do the same and to upload their videos online.
Grace Morgan, a fan of Grande since 2003, said that the singer must have not been charged for licking the donuts because she paid for the damaged products and publicly apologized multiple times. She also said that the singer was high on pain medication at that time after undergoing tooth extraction.
“Of course, her celebrity status likely protected her from any charges or legal consequences she may have met,” Morgan said. “On the other hand, the girl caught licking ice cream never paid for it (as far as I know) and never apologized or identified herself,” she added.
In 2015, Grande also clarified in her lengthy apology that she is proud to be an American. She also said that she loves her country.
“What I said in a private moment with my friend, who was buying the donuts, was taken out of context and I am sorry for not using more discretion with my choice of words,” she said. “As an advocate for healthy eating, food is very important to me and I sometimes get upset by how freely we as Americans eat and consume things without giving any thought to the consequences that it has on our health and society as a whole,” she added.
