The Sinaloa Cartel apparently chose 'El Chapo' Guzman's successor months ago. Damaso Lopez Jr., known as 'El Mini Lic', is godson to 'El Chapo' and will most likely take over the leadership of the Sinaloa cartel. Damaso Lopez Jr. is a young man born in Sinaloa and the son of Damaso Lopez Nuñez, AKA 'El Licenciado,' considered by the U.S. Justice Department as the right hand man of 'El Chapo' Guzman. His son, Damaso Jr. will be taking over the reigns of the most powerful drug cartel in the world.
Damaso Lopez Snr. worked for the Mexican government at one time and was in charge of the penetentiary system which imprisoned the most powerful drug carel members in the country: he was chief of security of Puente Grande prison. He was the main inside operator during the presidency of Vicente Fox and was the key figure in orchestrating El Chapo's escape from prison in 2001. Following Guzman's escape, he joined the Sinaloa cartel openly and became one of its key members.
His son, "El Mini Lic" has been chosen because, according to tierradelnarco.com.mx, hew would inject new blood in the Sinaloa Cartel. Damaso Lopez Jr. represents a new wave of young drug trafickers who on social media called themselves the "Anthrax Group" or "Los Antrax" after the deadly poison. "Damazo has a connection with his people like a politician on a campaign, using Twitter as part of the indoctrination of his people and revealing his ostentatious lifestyle on social media, for which thousands of followers exalt his feats."
