The popular K-pop girl band, Blackpink, recently released a Japanese-language version of their latest single Ddu-du Ddu-du, which was originally released in Korean and English in June 2019. The heights of their worldwide popularity can be gauged by the fact that their music video got more than 36 million views on Youtube within 24 hours of its release. And while all the band members are quite famous, one, in particular, is the most popular K-Pop star on Instagram with 26 million followers! Any guesses?
The K-Pop band, Blackpink has four members- Lisa, Jennie, Rosé, and Jisoo. But of them all, Lisa is the one who has the largest fan-following, evident from the towering number of followers on her Instagram account. She has successfully replaced K-pop star Chanyeol, a rapper with K-pop boy group Exo, who earlier occupied the top position. Next in line is BigBang’s G-Dragon with 16.3 million followers, then Exo’s Sehun with 15.9 million followers, and Blackpink’s Jennie with 15.2 million followers.
The other band members, Rose and Jisoo, have 13.3 million and 12.8 million followers respectively, ranking ninth and 10th on the list of K-pop stars with the highest following on Instagram.
Meet Lisa, the most popular member of Blackpink
Born in Bangkok, Thailand, 21-year-old Lisa, originally named Pranpriya Manoban, was only 14 when she auditioned to become a trainee with YG Entertainment and aced the goal at the age of 15. She trained for more than five years before she debuted as a member of the four-member girl group Blackpink in 2016, with the release of the digital single album “Square One”, containing their hit song “Whistle.”
Today, Lisa is the youngest member of the group, yet she is their lead rapper and main dancer. She even learned to speak Korean, English and Japanese in addition to her native Thai. With all that hard work and dedication, it hardly comes as a surprise that Lisa is gaining worldwide recognition and is everyone’s favourite K-pop star! The band is all set to embark on a tour of Japan in December in 2019.
