Google Doodle - a special, temporary alteration of the logo on Google's homepages, honors groundbreaking Mexican film, stage and television actress, Katy Jurado, the first Latin American actress nominated for an Academy Award. Jurado would have been 94 years old on January 16, but she passed at 78 in Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico after suffering kidney failure and a pulmonary disease.

To remember her legacy, Google decided to change its logo in the United States, Mexico, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Iceland, Sweden, Croatia, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Indonesia, and Japan, to keep her memory alive around the world.

1. Her real name was María Cristina Estela Marcela Jurado García and she was born on January 16, 1924 in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.
2. She began her acting career during the Golden Age of Mexican cinema in 1943, playing villainous, wicked, seductive "femme fatale" characters.
3. After being discovered by filmmaker Budd Boetticher, she began her Hollywood career in the film The Bullfighter and the Lady. This opened the door for her during the 1950s and 1960s, acting in Western films like High Noon (1952), Arrowhead (1953), Broken Lance (1954), One-Eyed Jacks (1960), and Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid (1973).
4. She was the first Latin American actress nominated for an Academy Award, as Best Supporting Actress for her work in Broken Lance, and was the first to win a Golden Globe Award for her performance in High Noon.
5. When she wasn’t acting she was working as a movie columnist, radio reporter and bullfight critic.
6. She was good friends with Frank Sinatra.
7. In 1998, the Mexican singer and songwriter Juan Gabriel dedicated and composed the song called "Que re'chula es Katy" (What a beauty is Katy).
8. Her final film appearance was in Un secreto de Esperanza. The film was released posthumously.
9. Even though her parents never gave their consent for her to work as an actress, Jurado made 71 films during her career.
