"Who is Delia Cortez?" is the question that many people are asking after the formerly-anonymous young woman received quite an inheritance this month. The 20-something Californian was the recent squeeze of late Los Angeles Lakers owner Jerry Buss. The poker-playing real estate investor died in February of kidney failure. Buss, a Utah native, was 80 years old.
Delia Cortez was entrusted with Buss' luxurious condominium in Hawaii, where Cortez is allegedly studying veterinary medicine at Chaminade University of Honolulu. Buss also left Delia Cortez a 2009 Bentley convertible. The Daily Mail puts the value of Cortez's new ride somewhere around $175,000. The rest of Jerry Buss' $5.5 million estate was left to his family trust, in care of his daughter, Jeanie.
Delia Cortez was told by Buss to keep their relationship somewhat secret, which explains why Buss was often seen in Los Angeles while Delia Cortez was in Hawaii.
According to her MySpace profile, Cortez attended high school in the Aloha State prior to enrolling at Chaminade.
Her interests include "going to the beach, hanging out with friends and chillin[g] at home." She also apparently likes "all kin[d]s" of movies as well as rap, reggae and Spanish music.
The Inquisitr points out that though Cortez has a couple of lavish new belongings, the taxes and insurance on both items is likely pretty high, so it will be interesting to see if she keeps the condo and Bentley.
