Hubertus Von Hohenlohe has exploded on to the Olympic scene, so much so that the Latino has been dubbed “the most interesting Olympian in the world” by NBC. Von Hohenlohe has competed in 6 Winter Olympic games, and now at 55-years-old he has managed to qualify for every series of games way back from 1984, the only reason he didn’t compete in the 2006 Olympic Games in Torino, Italy was due to a decision by the Mexican Olympic Committee, which decided not to send a one-man team, with a “German last name,” to the Winter Games that year. While he has not yet won a gold medal at the Olympics, he has accolades of other sorts. Hubertus Von Hohenlohe is of royal birth, and is considering a German prince. Even more surprising, his grandfather, Kaiser Franz II, was the last Holy Roman emperor. But don’t be fooled, Hubertus Von Hohenlohe is a competitor at heart, as the second oldest Olympian in history, in addition the German prince takes pride in representing his birth country Mexico on the world stage. While a student in Austria he developed a love of skiing, and at age 21 he created the one-man Mexican Ski Federation which has been in establishment since 1981. Hubertus Von Hohenlohe has shown his pride for Mexico, not only acting as the country’s flag holder in the Sochi Opening Ceremony, but will also make Olympic history by donning a custom mariachi suit for his alpine skiing events.

So when can you see the now iconic mariachi suit and Hubertus Von Hohenlohe as he competes for the gold in Sochi? Well, he will have two chances to show off both his prideful look and his impressive sporting skills, on February 22. Hubertus Von Hohenlohe is set to compete in the Men's Slalom, an event that has become one of the most popular at the Winter Games. Set to begin on the 22nd at 7:45am, ET, fans of the sport can catch all the action live by visiting NBCOlympics.com, the official website of the 2014 Sochi Games.
