During Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference keynote speech iOS 8 was revealed for iPhone and iPad. The OS included Apple's highly-rumored health initiative along with an accompanying app but differed a bit from how it was described in early rumors. Ahead of WWDC, "Healthbook" was the most hyped feature of iOS 8 and was said to serve as a Passbook-style app that carried a variety of health-related information in a color card array.

Apple has described its new Health app as giving users the ability to access "an easy-to-read dashboard of your health and fitness data." Furthermore Apple created a new tool for developers called HealthKit, which allows all the incredible health and fitness apps to work together. Developers can make their apps way more useful by allowing them access to all your health data with HealthKit. This gives users the ability to share what they want. You can allow the data for your blood pressure app to be automatically shared with your doctor. Or even allow your nutrition app to communicate with your fitness apps about how many calories you consume daily.
