Rodrigo Santoro stars in the upcoming HBO series "Westworld." The Brazilian actor returns to U.S. television in this JJ Abrams produced show. During the Season 6 episode of "Game Of Thrones" titled "Battle Of The Bastards," the premium cable network aired the first full trailer for the series and Santoro appeared in one of the scenes. Viewers were able to see him pointing a gun at someone. Is he one of the villains? A robot? We don't know yet. "Westworld" is set to premiere in October of this year. Rodrigo Santoro is not new to the JJ Abrams show universe. He previously starred in the series "Lost" back in 2006 in Season 3. Backlash to his character ensued online and he was killed off by the end of the season. Maybe "Westworld" is a way Abrams is making things right for Santoro? Either way, the actor is currently starring on the Globo telenovela "Velho Chico."
Santoro joins an incredible cast that includes Anthony Hopkins and Ed Harris. Other actors include Evan Eachel Wood, James Marsden, Thandie Newton, Jeffrey Wright, Ben Barnes, Jimmi Simpson, Tessa Thompson and many more. Santoro is set to play the character of Harlan Bell, a wanted man bent on survival.
"Westworld" is based on the 1973 science fiction western-thriller by Michael Crichton. The central plotline centers on a theme park called Westworldn where robots start malfunctioning and kill its visitors. If the storyline sounds familiar it is because Crichton also wrote "Jurassic Park," about a dinosaur theme park where the dinosaurs escape and start killing visitors. "Westworld" as also inspiration to "The Simpsons" episode where the family travesl to Itchy & Scratchy Land, where the robots turn against its visitors.
