Fans of The Weeknd, rejoice! It looks like the singer is working towards potential music release. The Canadian singer, whose real name is, in fact, Abel Tesfaye, returned to social media after a break to give us cryptic clues of something exciting.
He shared a blurry black and white image on Instagram, with a caption, "The fall starts tomorrow night." He then also took over the stories section, where he shared a snap of himself in sunglasses, with a caption, "tomorrow night we start again" and shared another picture of his "Starboy" single CD case.
But one song, in particular, has caught our attention, which seems to be inspired by one of his ex-girlfriends, Selena Gomez. Why do we say so? Because he registered a song called "Like Selena" to a US public performance organization, says ASCAP.
It's been almost two years when the former couple made their relationship public while attending the Coachella Music Festival. They began dating in January 2017 and parted ways in October of the same year. At that time, they seemed into each other and Gomez looked happy.
During an interview with Instyle at that time, Selena said, "You want someone to add to your life, not to complete you if that makes sense. I'm lucky because he's more of a best friend than anything else." The couple blamed their separation on their hectic schedules. And, after that soon after that, the rapper released "My Dear Melancholy" and even gave us an insight regarding their separation.
The album had various references to Gomez, at least that's what people detected, on songs such as "Call Out My Name," "Hurt You," "I Was Never There," "Privilege," and "Starboy." Although he is still drawing creativity from Selena, it definitely looks like he has moved on to his other ex, Bella Hadid, who he was dating before Selena.
Last October, The Weeknd was spotted hanging out with Hadid to celebrate her birthday. Nevertheless, we are all eagerly waiting for his new album. And, as of now, nothing has been revealed officially.
