On Thursday, officers from the St. Joseph County Police Department responded to Martin's Super Market Pharmacy to deal with a wild turkey that had made its way into the store, according to ABC7News.
"We need animal control out here. [The turkey] is chasing the customers. It's a really big turkey," a caller said to 911.
Body camera footage demonstrates a group of officers entering the store and approaching the bird as it stands atop a shelf surrounded by items knocked over.
One officer can be seen approaching with a blanket to capture it.
K9 Officer Kyle O'Konski then states that they should attempt to grab the turkey's legs and release it into the wild.
"Why don't we just grab it?" O'Konski says in the footage.
After successfully apprehending he fowl, officers sent the following message: "One turkey detained at 14:52."
"Props to all responding officers—especially K9 Officer O'Konski, who's now certified in poultry negotiations," St. Joseph's County Police Department posted to Facebook following the incident. "The turkey was peacefully escorted off the premises and released completely unharmed."
