Season 5 of “The Vampire Diaries” is coming to a close, but not before a seriously shocking finale episode. Last week’s episode “The Promised Land” left viewers agape when Stefan was killed by Julian, the Traveler currently occupying the body of Tyler Lockwood. Stefan was trying to protect Caroline, when Julian attacked, currently he is stuck on the Other Side, which is dangerously collapsing, meaning the vampire may have no chance to return to life.
However, tonight in the Season 5 finale, Damon will work tirelessly to figure out how to bring back his younger brother. In “Home” Damon teams up with a surprisingly ally -- Bonnie. The former Bennett witch, and current anchor of the Other Side, has just as much as Damon to lose. If the Other Side collapses, Stefan will be lost forever, as will Bonnie would no longer have anything anchoring her to Earth and Mystic Falls.
Recent spoiler reports have reported that three deaths will occur in tonight’s finale episode. But who will the three deaths be? Stefan cannot permanently stay dead, so most likely Damon and Bonnie will find another Traveler witch to aide in the rebuilding of the Other Side. Stefan will most likely survive, and so will Bonnie, she will most likely become a powerful witch again. So who does that leave to suffer these devastating permanent deaths?
In episode 21, “The Promised Land” Caroline was devastated after Julian killed Stefan and stayed in Tyler’s body, leaving her with little hope that her long lost love would get his body back from the now-deranged Passenger. Considering all this in addition to the ominous synopsis for “Home,” it seems plausible that Markos will kill Julian, and thus in turn Tyler, for betraying the cave location of the Travelers’ bodies. This violent and ruthless murder would also assert his newfound authority to Sheriff Forbes.
Sheriff Forbes may also be another victim of the finale episode. Despite the devastating heartbreak Caroline will no doubt suffer after losing both her former love and mother, these two characters are likely possibility to be killed off. The third permanent death will most likely be a loophole; the Travelers will kill Julian while he inhabits Tyler’s body.
